Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council.
The decision, according to the state government, is to provide an enabling environment for members of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
Following the dissolution, Gov. Zulum directed all Commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to Permanent Secretaries on or before April 3, 2026.
The move is seen as part of preparations ahead of the electoral process, allowing affected officials to pursue their political ambitions without conflict with official responsibilities.
Gov. Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing Commissioners for their service to the state.
He commended their dedication, commitment, and contributions to the development of Borno State during their tenure.
The governor also assured residents of continuity in governance, noting that the civil service would ensure uninterrupted administration of government activities across ministries.
