Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and presented an overview of the 2026 budget priorities during the official presentation of the ₦4.237 trillion Appropriation Bill.
Addressing dignitaries and legislators at the Assembly Chamber on Tuesday, Obasa described the 2026 budget, themed “Budget of Shared Prosperity”, as a comprehensive plan aimed at sustaining Lagos’ economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare.
He highlighted key focus areas of the budget, including healthcare, education, transportation, security, and governance, emphasizing their critical role in maintaining Lagos’ status as Africa’s leading economic hub.
Obasa also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his national reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, including improved currency stability, debt clearance, and enhanced economic confidence, noting that such achievements strengthen the state’s fiscal outlook.
The Speaker commended the Lagos State government’s collaboration with the Assembly, citing recent approvals for major projects such as the Smart Solar All-in-One Streetlight Project and the issuance of a ₦125 billion bond oversubscribed by 170%, which he said demonstrates investor confidence in the state.
He further applauded newly elected Local Government and LCDA chairmen for delivering tangible results at the grassroots, including road constructions, job creation, and improved community services.
