As the Federal Government prepares for the official rollout of the National Single Window (NSW) platform on March 27, 2026, NSW Coordinator, Mr. Tola Fakolade has revealed that the first phase will automate import permits and cargo manifest submissions.
The NSW is a digital initiative poised to overhaul Nigeria’s trade ecosystem.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting at the State House, Abuja, attended by ministers, agency heads, and key officials, Mr Tola Fakolade, urged agencies to intensify support in the final 23 days before the “go-live” as scheduled.
According to him, the first phase will enable online processing of import permits, electronic submission of cargo manifests, and the introduction of a centralised risk management system.
He added that nationwide user training is ongoing, and pilot testing will soon be conducted to ensure a smooth rollout.
Fakolade added that cargo manifests would be submitted electronically and transmitted automatically to relevant agencies without human intervention.
“The support that we need from each of the agencies is even more critical now. Documents will be submitted once and shared with all relevant agencies without duplication,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila described the project as a monumental fiscal reform that will consolidate multiple trade portals into a single, efficient interface to boost national competitiveness.
The project also received full backing from key economic leaders, including the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Governor of the Central Bank, Olayemi Cardoso, who emphasized the platform’s role in closing Nigeria’s trade facilitation gap.
To ensure a seamless launch, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has been mandated to lead the final implementation phase, coordinating with agencies such as Customs, NPA, NAFDAC, and SON to sensitize the trading public.
