In a bid to bridge Nigeria’s digital divide and empower communities across the country, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in partnership with the Renewed Hope Initiative, has commissioned 10 state-of-the-art Digital Economy Centres across Nigeria.
The centres, equipped with modern technology, learning tools, and high-speed connectivity, were commissioned virtually by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The initiative underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive digital growth and nationwide empowerment.
According to NITDA, the newly inaugurated centres will serve as innovation hubs where students, entrepreneurs, and citizens can acquire digital skills, explore emerging technologies, and access opportunities in today’s knowledge-driven economy.
The centres are located at the Women Development Centre, Umuahia, Abia State; Model Technical College, Asaba, Delta State; Ujabhole Grammar School, Irrua, Edo State; ICT Centre, Tsanyawa, Kano State; Model Primary School, Matazu, Katsina State; Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu, Lagos State; TAAL eLibrary, Lafia, Nasarawa State; Ondo State Public Service Institute, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State; Shehu Sule College of Nursing, Damaturu, Yobe State; and Zamfara State Library Board, Gusau, Zamfara State.
Through this initiative, NITDA aims to bring technology closer to Nigerians, promote inclusion, and drive the vision of a digitally empowered and globally competitive nation in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
