A Nigerian army officer, Major A.M. Abubakar, has been killed in a road accident along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, military sources said Sunday.

The crash occurred on March 28 near Azara village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, involving a commercial passenger bus and a truck belonging to BUA Cement.

Abubakar, who was attending a course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, was travelling as a passenger in the bus when the collision happened. He died at the scene, while other passengers sustained minor injuries, the sources said.

His remains have been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.

The officer’s personal belongings were later handed over to his family after they arrived at the hospital, according to the sources.
