TCN embarks on infrastructure maintenance at Minna transmission substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has embarked on critical infrastructure upgrades in Minna, Nigeria state.
This was revealed in a notice by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to its customers on Thursday.
The AEDC disclosed that the TCN technical team is currently deployed to the Minna 132kV Transmission Substation and Engineers are performing scheduled maintenance on the 60MVA TR5 1&2 transformers, a move described by utility officials as a vital step in improving the long-term reliability and stability of the regional power grid.
This maintenance has resulted in power interruptions for residents and business owners across a vast section of Minna.
Major financial institutions, including Zenith, Fidelity, GT, and Access Banks, are among the primary entities seeing operations impacted. Critical public infrastructure ranging from the General Hospital and the Railway Station to the FM Radio Station and the Police Barracks must also contend with the temporary loss of grid power throughout the duration of the works.
While the maintenance has disrupted the daily flow of the city, AEDC officials emphasized that these measures are part of a broader network upgrade designed to prevent future equipment failure and enhance the overall quality of supply.
Work is strictly slated for completion by 6:00 PM on Thursday evening, at which point the gradual restoration of electricity to the affected districts is expected to commence.
In the interim, the utility company has opened a dedicated inquiry line at 08039070070 for customers seeking real-time updates on the progress at the substation.
