NGF condemns Plateau attack, urges restraint and end to violence

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has condemned in strong terms the recent attacks in Angwan Rukuba, Plateau State, where several people were reportedly killed and others injured.

The position of the Forum was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ilorin by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

The NGF called for restraint and an immediate end to the cycle of violence, warning that prolonged conflict continues to hinder development and deepen divisions among communities.

“We call for restraint and an immediate end to the war of attrition in Plateau or any part of our nation. A cycle of violence does no one any good; it leaves people bitter and vengeful, and our communities perpetually deprived of sustainable development,” the statement read.

The Forum extended its condolences to the families of the victims and the government of Plateau State, while commending Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his swift response following the incident.

It also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks.
