The Lagos State Police Command has kicked off activities for the 2026 national police day with a statewide sanitation exercise and a free medical outreach aimed at strengthening community relations and promoting public health.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, lead officers across various area commands in a coordinated clean-up operation. The exercise was carried out simultaneously in multiple parts of the state, reflecting the Command’s commitment to environmental responsibility and civic engagement.
As part of the day’s activities, residents also benefited from a medical outreach held in Ikeja, where police personnel and healthcare professionals provided free health services. These included basic medical checks such as blood pressure and blood sugar tests, screenings for hepatitis and other conditions, as well as health consultations and distribution of medications.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, the programme is designed not only to mark the National Police Day but also to reinforce the relationship between the police and the public. The outreach drew participation from community members who commended the police for making healthcare more accessible.
The Lagos Police Command noted that the activities highlight a broader effort by the Nigeria Police Force to adopt a more people-focused approach to policing, while also contributing to public wellbeing.
Events marking the National Police Day are expected to continue throughout the week with more community-based engagements across the state.
