Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has described Nigerian NewsDirect as a shining example of how effective succession and youthful leadership can sustain a media organisation in a challenging industry.

Speaking at the paper’s 15th anniversary and award night, Fanwo said NewsDirect’s growth demonstrates what structured leadership and innovative thinking can achieve in modern journalism.

He praised the organisation for maintaining stability after the passing of its founder, noting that the current leadership under Matthew reflects “the power of excellent succession” and shows how young professionals can drive progress through creativity and clear vision.

Fanwo expressed confidence that NewsDirect is positioned to achieve its ambition of becoming Africa’s top media institution. According to him, the newspaper’s achievements to date are evidence of deliberate planning and unwavering dedication to quality journalism.

The Commissioner, who was also honoured at the event, said the recognition would open new channels of cooperation between Kogi State and the publication. He stated that a stronger relationship between government and the media would enhance public communication and foster better understanding.

Fanwo concluded by commending the NewsDirect team for sustaining 15 years of consistent impact, urging them to deepen their commitment to ethical reporting and innovation as they move into the next phase of growth.
