News Direct Awards: Zenith Bank, GMD to receive Banker of the Year, Bank of the Year Award 2025

Zenith Bank Plc has cemented its dominance in Nigeria’s financial sector as the Bank and her Group Managing Director are set to receive the Bank of the Year and Banker of the Year 2025 awards from the Nigerian News Direct.

The prestigious dual honour recognizes the exceptional performance of the institution and the transformative leadership of its Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON.

The awards are scheduled to be formally presented at the NewsDirect 15th Anniversary and Awards ceremony slated to hold on November 29, 2025, in Lagos.

Profit before tax surged significantly, underpinned by a solid rise in both interest and non-interest income. This was achieved through efficient cost management and a disciplined approach to risk and governance, demonstrating operational excellence even amid a challenging macroeconomic environment.

Furthermore, Zenith Bank strengthened its digital banking operations, successfully expanding its customer base and introducing innovative financial products that enhanced customer experience and deepened financial inclusion across the country.

The bank's financial stability was further underscored by its consistent dividend payout, improved capital adequacy ratio, and strong liquidity position.

The selection of Zenith Bank and its GMD followed a thorough review of performance metrics, innovation drive, and leadership impact across Nigerian banks and executives in 2025.

The committe also applauded the Bank, stating, “Zenith Bank continues to set benchmarks in operational excellence, corporate governance, and innovation. Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji’s transformative leadership has undeniably positioned the bank as a model of stability and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.”
