A new era for the hospitality sector in the Niger Delta was inaugurated in Durban, South Africa, on Monday, as the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) formalized a tripartite International Management Agreement (IMA) with Radisson Hospitality Belgium and Edison Hotel and Property Development Company.

The deal clears the path for the official opening of a 204-room world-class hotel and conference center in December 2026, located strategically adjacent to the Nigerian Content Tower in Swali, Yenagoa.

The agreement, signed by NCDMB Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Edison Corporation Executive Chairman Mr. Vivian Reedy, and Radisson Director Mr. Garnier Erwan, follows over two years of rigorous compliance reviews.

Engr. Ogbe confirmed that the partnership secured critical backing from the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi ensuring the framework meets the highest national legal and regulatory benchmarks.

The NCDMB chief emphasized that the project is a strategic investment designed to bolster local content, attract international oil and gas stakeholders, and transform Bayelsa State into a premier destination for business tourism.

Under the terms of the partnership, Edison Corporation will act as the vital bridge between the NCDMB as owners and Radisson as operators.

Mr. Vivian Reedy highlighted his group’s extensive experience in the hospitality industry, noting that their role is to ensure disciplined management, brand integrity, and the protection of the owner’s investment.

He cited previous successes where similar collaborations with Radisson achieved up to 95% occupancy, expressing confidence that the Yenagoa facility will become the leading hospitality hub in the region through a shared commitment to global excellence and operational transparency.

The Radisson Hotel & Conference Center Yenagoa is envisioned as more than a lodging facility; it is intended to serve as a catalyst for sustainable value creation and economic productivity in Nigeria’s energy heartland.

While the NCDMB takes responsibility for construction quality, funding, and safety compliance, Radisson is expected to deploy its global expertise and brand strength to deliver a superior guest experience.

Representing the Attorney-General at the ceremony, Mr. Wada Ahmed Wada described the signing as a historic milestone, marking a significant step forward in building the necessary infrastructure to support Nigeria’s industrial growth.
