Nasarawa State achieves record 83% governance perception rating as NIPR names Governor Sule Patron

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has rated Nasarawa State at a remarkable 83.6% on its Governance Perception Index for 2025.

This figure represents a dramatic surge from the 30.4% recorded in 2024, marking the most significant year-on-year improvement in the history of the index.

Dr. Ike Neliaku, the NIPR President and Council Chairman, announced these findings on Monday in Abuja during the formal investiture of Governor Abdullahi Sule as a Patron of the institute.

The state’s performance across all evaluated pillars fell within the excellent category, characterized by a strikingly narrow margin of variance.

Scores for culture, social equity, communication, credibility, and leadership each reached 84%, while performance followed closely at 83%. Innovation peaked at 83.8%, suggesting that citizens increasingly view the administration as both forward-thinking and technically competent.

This tight clustering with a spread of just 1.2 points indicates a balanced public perception of governance with no discernible weak links in service delivery or reputation.

During the ceremony, Dr. Neliaku expressed deep appreciation to the people and government of Nasarawa State for their steadfast support of the institute.

He noted that the state has brought out its chest to take the bullets for Nigeria by backing two major global reputation projects slated for 2026.

This includes a strategic partnership to host the World Public Relations Forum in Abuja, an event expected to attract over 3,000 global thought leaders across the sectors of communication, policy, business, and education.

In his response, Governor Sule acknowledged the honor and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to collaborating with the institute, specifically regarding the establishment of the NIPR University in Gudi.

He emphasized that the university is a cornerstone of the legacy he intends to leave behind, ensuring that future generations have access to specialized, world-class training in communication within the country.
