Man jailed 10 months for stealing hair extension worth N670,000

A 26-year-old man, Sunday Richard, who stole hair extension, worth N670,000, was on Wednesday sentenced to 10 months in a correctional centre by a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court.
Richard, whose address was not provided, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to the one-count charge.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, in his judgment held that all the evidence tendered had convinced the court beyond reasonable doubt.
Emmanuel, thereafter, sentenced Richard to 10 months in a correctional centre without an option of fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at Barnawa Kaduna on Aug. 26.
He said that one Helen Christian, of No 20b Angola Street, Barnawa, reported the matter at the Police Station.
He said that, while the complainant was serving a customer, the defendant came to the shop, under the pretence of buying hair extensions but she sighted something being put inside a bag.
“The complainant saw the defendant put something inside her bag and left the shop without making any payment before the complainant raised an alarm.
“When the complainant raised an alarm, the defendant threw away the stolen items and tried to run away.
“He was, however, apprehended and handed over to the police,” Leo said.
He further said the offences contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
