Man alleges assault, wife’s sexual harassment, son’s abduction in Lagos attack

A 60 year old man, Clement Umeh, has reported an alleged case of assault, sexual harassment and abduction following a violent attack on his residence in Agege area of Lagos State.
Umeh, a native of Ikenga in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, reported the incident to the police on April 17, 2026.
According to the report, the incident occurred at about 10:45 pm at his residence in Agege, when unidentified armed men allegedly stormed the house and attacked members of his family.
The complainant alleged that the assailants physically assaulted and tortured him while threatening to kill him during the attack which led to severe head injuries after being repeatedly hit by the attackers.
Umeh further alleged that his wife, Mrs Ify Umeh, 45, was sexually harassed during the invasion, while his 21 year old son, Michael Umeh, was badly injured before being abducted by the attackers.
According to him, he narrowly escaped death after fleeing through the back door of the house during the incident.
He further stated that pioir to the attack, he relocated to Lagos with his family in 2025 after facing repeated security threats and displacement linked to violent attacks in Anambra State linking the attack to a long standing dispute involving his late brother, Celestine Chukwudi Umeh, whom he claimed had controversial associations with criminal elements in the South-East.
Umeh stated that disagreements surrounding his late brother’s activities may have contributed to the attack on his family disclosing that Celestine reportedly died from gunshot injuries on October 14, 2022, while his daughter, Niki Umeh, allegedly disappeared shortly after and remains missing.
According to Umeh, some persons believe Niki possesses sensitive information relating to criminal activities within the community, making her a possible target.
Police sources confirmed that the case has been reported and preliminary investigation has commenced.
Officers were said to have visited the scene following the complaint, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the attack.
Although, no arrest had been made, while the whereabouts of the abducted victim remained unknown.
