The Oyo State Police Command has issued a stern warning against extortion and unprofessional conduct during the ongoing police recruitment screening exercise in the state.

The warning followed an official inspection visit by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Department of Training and Development, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, to the screening team at the Command Headquarters in Ibadan.

Afolabi, accompanied by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, addressed both officials of the Police Service Commission and officers of the Command involved in the exercise.

During his remarks, the senior officer cautioned personnel against any form of misconduct, stressing that adherence to due process is essential to preserving the integrity and credibility of the recruitment process.

He warned that any attempt to compromise established procedures could have far-reaching consequences on the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Decisions taken during this screening process will have long-term implications on the system,” Afolabi stated, urging officers to uphold transparency, diligence, and accountability.

He further warned that any officer found culpable of extortion or other forms of unprofessional behavior would face strict disciplinary action in accordance with the law.

The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent, credible, and merit-based recruitment process in line with ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism within the Force.
