The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has revealed that it has recorded improved truck turnaround and reduced compactor queues at the Olusosun Dumpsite following the extension and stabilization of its E1 tipping platforms.

LAWMA’s Executive Director of Finance, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, who disclosed this on Tuesday, said that the upgrade of the tipping platform had enhanced the efficiency of waste discharge operations and significantly reduced waiting times for compactors by facilitating faster evacuation of waste.

According to him, the improved turnaround has also strengthened LAWMA’s capacity to clear accumulated waste backlogs and address identified black spots across Lagos State.

However, he expressed concern over the continued indiscriminate disposal of waste and the re-emergence of refuse at previously cleared locations, warning that such practices undermine ongoing sanitation efforts.

He urged residents to desist from dumping refuse on road medians and other unauthorized locations and to patronize their assigned Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators for proper waste collection and disposal.
