Lagos partners Oniru Community for maiden Business and Cultural day

The Lagos State Government has partnered with the Oniru of Iru Kingdom to host the inaugural Oniru Business and Cultural Day, an initiative designed to strengthen public-private collaboration and promote inclusive economic development. 

Scheduled for February 14, 2026, the event was announced by the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal (Abisogun II), during a press briefing at his palace in Victoria Island. 

The monarch stated that the programme represents a significant step in the socioeconomic advancement of Iruland, serving as a formal platform for sustained interaction among stakeholders. 

Developed in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, the initiative includes the establishment of the Iru Business Network to ensure continuous engagement beyond the event.

Oba Lawal noted that the network will connect cultural institutions, businesses, and government agencies, aligning local realities with state policies. 

The Commissioner for Commerce, Mrs. Folashade Kaosarat Bada-Ambrose, added that the initiative supports the state’s THEMES+ agenda by fostering economic diversification, job creation, and tourism. 

She further encouraged multinational firms and indigenous businesses to leverage the platform for capacity-building and investment.
