Lagos growth built on peace, unity – Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that peace, unity and shared values remain the foundation of good governance and long-term development in Lagos.
The Governor made this known at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons, themed “Prince of Peace – Omo Alade Alafia,” held at the party’s secretariat in Acme, Ogba.
He was represented at the event by his deputy, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Lagos has enjoyed political stability and steady growth for more than two decades because of internal cohesion, discipline and peaceful political engagement within the ruling party.
“This gathering goes beyond celebration. It reminds us that peace has always been the cornerstone of our party and our governance. The culture of unity, discipline and stability within the APC has kept Lagos thriving and its development journey on course for over twenty years,” he said.
The Governor described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the architect of Lagos’ development and political stability, noting that his leadership laid the foundation for the governance model the state still operates today.
He added that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda continues to shape national development, with Lagos serving as a clear example of consistent and visionary leadership.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration remains committed to improving security, expanding infrastructure, empowering youths, attracting investments and protecting vulnerable residents.
According to him, these goals are being achieved through a stable political environment and a strong party structure.
He also commended party leaders and members for their loyalty and discipline, describing the Lagos APC as a model of organisation and continuity.
“The strength of our party lies in its structure, shared values and commitment. Our leaders mentor, our members stay committed, and together we support effective governance,” he added.
Earlier, Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and renewed hope as the year draws to a close. He described Christmas as a season of reflection, love and service, calling on citizens to reject hatred and violence.
“Christmas reminds us of hope, unity and peaceful coexistence. True leadership is about wisdom, justice and service to humanity,” Ojelabi said.
He reaffirmed the unity of the APC in Lagos and praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and commitment to the security of lives and property, assuring residents that Lagos remains safe and stable for all.
