The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to youth leadership, civic engagement and community development across the state.

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated this on Tuesday during the unveiling of IBILE Youth Academy State and Divisional Ambassadors at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja.

The event was organised by the state Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

The ceremony marked a transition of leadership as young representatives were entrusted with driving youth-focused initiatives across Lagos.

It also signalled a renewed commitment to youth empowerment, leadership development and active civic participation.

Sanwo-Olu commended the youths for their energy and enthusiasm.

“Our purpose is to build the youth as well as build the nation together. I like the energy and spirit among you. You are all winners,” the governor said.

The Newsmen reports that 50 youths were presented to the governor during the event.

Six ambassadors were selected from Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe divisions, including an apex leader who will serve as the State Youth Ambassador.

Sanwo-Olu pledged special plans for the remaining 44 participants of the programme.

The governor also announced that the ambassadors would travel to Singapore for training and capacity building.

“Last year you went to Canada; this year you will visit the most beautiful country in the world. You are going to Singapore,” he said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, congratulated the newly appointed ambassadors.

He urged them to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, diligence and a strong sense of purpose.

The event was attended by youth organisations, including members of the Lagos State Youth Parliament, Nigerian Youth Parliament and the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos chapter.
