The residents of Idumagbo Avenue, Lagos, have urged the government to strengthen security in the state.

This plea came after the chaos caused by a rival cult gang in the area, which led to the disruption of business and service in the area.

An eyewitness, who spoke under anonymity to our correspondent explained how the violent incident occurred.

He said, “Individuals associated with the violent incidents at Yaba College of Technology and its surroundings arrived, shouting the name Korede. Tragically, while Korede was with his friends, Isiaka and Abiodun, he was shot at; however, the bullet struck Isiaka instead, prompting Korede to flee for his safety. They subsequently caught up with Abiodun and stabbed him,” he explained.

Another eyewitness narrated how the assailants aggressively inquired about Korede’s whereabouts, who appeared to be their target.

“From my concealed position, I observed a particularly menacing individual approach and shoot Abiodun in the stomach. Following the second gunfire, chaos ensued, and the street was left deserted, with the victims lying in a pool of blood. Isiaka and Abiodun were taken to Little Way Clinic, but the attending nurses refused to provide assistance without a police report.”

Efforts to speak with a member of the deceased’s families proved abortive, as they all declined to speak to the press, except for Mr. Amusan Shakiru (Korede’s father), who expressed his anguish over the loss of the boys and his concern for his son’s safety, while confirming to have reported the case to the police.

He said, “I have reported the incident to the Adeniji Central Police Station, seeking their help in locating my son (Korede). This situation is unbearable; anyone who wishes to harm my son should come and kill me first.”

In his response to the clash, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the prompt actions of the police during the attacks and urged the community to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the law enforcement agents for appropriate measures.

He reassured the public that the police will persist in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Lagos State.

Olohundare said, “I commend the effort of our officers who brought peace and order to the community, and I urge the residents in the area to report any suspicious activities or transactions in the area to the police. We will ensure that the perpetrators of this evil act are arrested, charged, and brought to justice,” he added.
