The Kwara State Government has restored full radiological services at the State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) following the procurement and installation of modern radiology equipment.

The upgrade marks the conclusion of months of refurbishment at the facility and forms part of the state government’s broader effort to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve diagnostic capacity.

With the installation completed, the Radiology Department has resumed full operations, offering patients immediate access to essential imaging services within the hospital premises.

Speaking on the development, the Chief Medical Director of KWASUTH, Dr. Bola Ahmed, described the reopening as a major milestone for the institution and the state’s health system.

He noted that the absence of functional, sophisticated radiology equipment had previously constrained effective diagnosis and treatment.

“This new equipment marks a turning point for our hospital. Installation and technical testing have been completed, and trained personnel are now in place to begin full operations,” Ahmed said.

He explained that the upgrade would significantly reduce the burden on patients who previously had to seek radiological investigations at private facilities or travel out of the state for such services.

The restoration of services has been welcomed by patients and residents, who expressed optimism that the development would shorten waiting times, improve diagnostic accuracy, and enhance overall patient care.

Dr. Ahmed reaffirmed the commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to continuous investment in medical equipment, hospital infrastructure, and manpower development.

He assured residents that the government remains focused on expanding access to quality healthcare across the state.

The reopening of the radiology unit represents another step in the state’s healthcare reform agenda, aimed at modernizing facilities and ensuring patients receive reliable medical care closer to home.
