The Kwara State Government has continued its engagement across local government areas to facilitate land acquisition for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Mass Housing Programme, with recent consultations extended to Kaiama and Baruten in the Northern Senatorial Districts.

This initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s plan to construct 100 housing units in each local government area nationwide under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunsola, alongside technical experts from the Ministry and the Kwara State Geographical Information Service, led an inspection and assessment of land provided by both communities for the federal mass housing project.

During a visit to the palace of the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, Dr Ogunsola expressed gratitude to the monarch for the community’s cooperation and support in releasing land for the project.

He explained that the housing initiative is a collaborative effort between the state and federal governments aimed at addressing the housing shortfall in Kwara, consistent with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to improving living standards across the state.

“This project will have far-reaching benefits for the people of Kaiama and the state as a whole,” Ogunsola noted. He appealed to residents to continue supporting the AbdulRazaq-led administration, assuring them that the government is determined to implement programmes that directly uplift citizens’ lives.

Also speaking, Waziri Kaiama, Alhaji Adamu Gene, on behalf of the Emir, praised Governor AbdulRazaq for the positive changes taking place across the state. He reaffirmed Kaiama’s continued support for the administration’s developmental agenda.

In a similar visit to Ilesha-Baruba, Dr Ogunsola was received by the Emir, Professor Halidu Abubakar, who thanked the state government for selecting the town as a site for the federal housing project.

The monarch noted that the initiative would complement the newly completed Kwara State University campus in Ilesha-Baruba and further boost economic activity and development in the area.

He assured the Commissioner of the community’s strong backing, stating that Ilesha-Baruba remains open to government programmes that will deliver meaningful benefits to its residents.
