The Kwara State Government has approved a 30% Peculiar Allowance for workers in agencies, parastatals, and media houses who did not benefit from the earlier allowance approved for their counterparts in the mainstream civil service.
The Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Mercy Shittu, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ilorin.
According to the statement, the approval is part of the administration’s continued commitment to workers’ welfare, equity, and inclusiveness across the state public service.
Dr. Shittu explained that the implementation of the allowance will take effect from June 1, 2026, noting that the gesture further demonstrates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to improving the well-being and morale of workers in the state.
The Acting Head of Service commended the governor for his support of the workforce and for sustaining policies that promote fairness and productivity within the civil service.
She urged workers in the affected establishments to remain committed, diligent, and supportive of government policies and programs aimed at advancing the state.
Meanwhile, the statement added that salaries for May had been paid ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration to enable workers to celebrate the festive season comfortably with their families.
She felicitated workers and the Muslim faithful across the state on the occasion of the Sallah celebration and prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in the state.
