The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the bodies of two young men who drowned in a quarry lake in the Opete Area of Asa Local Government Area.

Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters launched a recovery operation at the site and successfully retrieved the victims. They have been identified as 26-year-old Fatai Abdulraman and 27-year-old Muhammed Awal.
Following the recovery, the remains were handed over to Mallam Abdulfatahi for necessary funeral arrangements.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, CFS Alabi Muhammed, expressed deep sympathy over the tragic incident.
He issued a warning to the public to avoid swimming or engaging in any activities near quarry lakes and other unregulated water bodies.
Muhammed explained that these lakes are often deceptively deep, structurally unstable, and highly dangerous.

The Director reaffirmed the State Fire Service’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and supporting rescue operations throughout Kwara State.
