Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and ex-Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of two serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, who passed away within hours of each other.
Kwankwaso’s condolence followed reports that Daneji’s death occurred shortly after the demise of Ungogo, who was the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.
While the cause of Daneji’s death has not been disclosed, Ungogo, a member of the NNPP, reportedly died after a brief illness.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Kwankwaso said he joined thousands of mourners in paying their last respects to the late lawmakers, who were buried in separate funeral rites

Similarly, Kwankwaso noted that Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, who represented Kano Municipal Constituency, was buried on Thursday morning at the Dandolo Cemetery.
“Until his demise, he was serving his first term as a lawmaker and was Chairman of the House Committee on Hajj Operations (Pilgrims Affairs). He previously retired from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as State Commandant in Katsina before venturing into politics,” the statement read.
Kwankwaso said both lawmakers were loyal supporters of the Kano State Government and committed members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano State Government, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, all members of the Assembly, and the people of Kano State—particularly the constituents of Ungogo and Kano Municipal.
