Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving federal intervention to complete the long-delayed Wuju-Wuju road project, at a cost of ₦47 billion.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday, the governor expressed gratitude for the swift consideration by the Federal Executive Council to sanction funds for the multi-purpose road project.
The statement reads partly:“The strategic road project was originally initiated by the administration of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso in 2013 but stalled during the eight years of the Ganduje administration. Upon careful assessment, my administration sought federal intervention to ensure the completion of the project.
“The request received swift consideration and approval by the Federal Executive Council, which sanctioned ₦47 billion for the multi-purpose road project.
I describe President Tinubu’s approval as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership and commitment to infrastructural development, particularly in Kano State.
“I also specially acknowledge the critical role played by the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, whom I praise for his consistency, commitment, and dogged follow-up from the National Assembly to the Presidential Villa to ensure that the project completion is approved.
Hon. Abba Bichi stood firm from the initial request stage to final approval, ensuring that Kano State’s interests were fully protected and the project completion is approved.”
Governor Yusuf lauded Abba Bichi as a model federal lawmaker and urged other Kano legislators to emulate his dedication and results-driven representation, regardless of party affiliations.
He further highlighted Bichi’s contributions to other key projects in the state, including the International Conference Centre along Maiduguri Road and a proposed international-standard stadium in Bichi.
Governor Yusuf also appealed to President Tinubu to consider additional mega projects for Kano, emphasising the state’s position as the most populous in Nigeria, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the federal government to deliver sustainable infrastructure and development.
