Hon. Saleh Ahmad Birniwa, the former Secretary to the Birniwa Local Government Council and current Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, has been officially cleared of a ₦662,000 fraud allegation.
The clearance by the Jigawa State House of Assembly sparked a massive solidarity rally in Birniwa Local Government Area, organised by residents and executive members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
The rally was held to celebrate Hon. Birniwa’s recent vindication. The fraud allegation, which led to his removal as Local Government Secretary in March 2017 by the 7th Jigawa State House of Assembly, was officially overturned after a review.
The State Assembly determined that the initial resolution lacked credible evidence and was found to have violated Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which guarantees the right to a fair hearing.
Speaking at the celebratory event, Hon. Saleh Ahmad Birniwa expressed his profound gratitude for the clearance, stating that the misappropriation accusation had no basis in fact.
He thanked Governor Umar Namadi and the Jigawa State House of Assembly for their commitment to fairness and justice in reviewing the earlier resolution.
Hon. Birniwa also acknowledged the people of Birniwa, the Local Government Council, the APC leadership, stakeholders, and the general public for organising the rally in his honour.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the developmental initiatives of both the Birniwa Local Government Area and the wider Jigawa State.
Malam Iliyasu Abdullahi Gomari, the rally leader, stated that the massive turnout demonstrated the people’s continued loyalty and solidarity with Governor Namadi’s administration.
He specifically commended Hon. Birniwa for his consistent contributions to youth empowerment and community development.
Malam Gomari concluded by pledging that the people of Birniwa would continue to support the APC towards victory in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, while also appreciating the state and local governments for the tremendous progress recorded in improving livelihoods across the area.
