Insecurity: Emir of Zuru urges prayers for divine intervention

A traditional ruler in Kebbi has appealed to Nigerians, particularly religious leaders and followers across faiths, to intensify prayers for divine intervention over the current security challenges bedeviling the country.

Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu-Sami, Gomo III, the Emir of Zuru, Kebbi, made the appeal at his palace during the weekly post-Jumu’at special prayers for peace, unity and development.

This is contained in a statement by the Sadaukin Zuru, Alhaji Abdullahi Zuru, who is also the Special Adviser to Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi on Communication and Strategy, issued to the news reporters in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

Zuru said the special prayer session was led by the Chief Imam of Zuru, Suleiman Tanko-Liman, the Sarkin Malaman Zuru, Musa Balarabe, and other prominent Islamic Scholars in the emirate.

The Emir observed that special prayers for peace had been a sustained practice in the Zuru Emirate since his assumption of office.

“This renewed call has become imperative in view of the demonstrated commitment of the Kebbi governor towards overcoming insecurity and fostering sustainable development.

“In spite of the deployment of resources and expertise of critical stakeholders by governments at all levels, insecurity has persisted, making it necessary to complement physical efforts with sincere return to Almighty Allah.

“Let us wholeheartedly return to Allah (SWT), seek His forgiveness for divine intervention; this will certainly complement the efforts being made by our leaders, particularly our own, Gov. Nasir Idris,” the Emir pleaded.

He further urged the people of the emirate and the state at large to continue to support and pray for the governor to succeed, in view of the administration’s selfless service anchored on peaceful coexistence and socio-economic well-being of the citizenry.
