Adeyanju joins FG investigative committee, declines to accept stipends

Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, Esq. has accepted his appointment to serve on the newly constituted independent committee tasked with investigating the tragic deaths of gold miners in Minna, Niger State.

In a statement on Saturday, Adeyanju expressed gratitude to the government for the appointment, stating that his primary objective is to ensure that the victims’ interests are adequately represented and the unvarnished truth is brought to light.

To safeguard the absolute integrity and independence of the panel, Adeyanju urged the government to refrain from allocating any monetary provisions, stipends, or honorariums to committee members.

He described the assignment as an act of national duty and sacrifice.

He also declared that he will neither accept financial compensation nor tolerate any compromises.

The lawyer also announced that he will personally shoulder all financial responsibilities associated with his participation, including hotel accommodations and transportation.

Concluding his statement, Adeyanju vowed to expose any suppression of the truth, emphasizing that the victims deserve true justice and that typical administrative bottlenecks or cover-ups must not be allowed to prevail.
