I will pause my music career for 2months to support Adeleke’s re-election – Davido

Global Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has announced a temporary hiatus from his music career to fully commit to the 2026 re-election campaign of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The singer made this disclosure on Tuesday during the official inauguration of the Imole Youth Mobilization Committee in Osogbo.

Addressing a massive crowd of enthusiastic supporters and youth leaders, Davido emphasized that his commitment to the Osun project supersedes his professional engagements for the upcoming election period.

“I will be pausing my music career for two months to focus entirely on my uncle’s re-election here in Osun. This isn’t just about family; it’s about the visible progress we’ve seen in our state. The youth are the backbone of this movement, and I am here to ensure their voices lead us to victory in 2026,” Davido stated.

The Imole Youth Mobilization Committee was established to serve as the grassroots engine for Governor Adeleke’s second-term bid.

Davido, who has been a consistent fixture in his uncle’s political journey, is expected to lead high-profile rallies and digital advocacy campaigns to galvanize the state’s significant youth demographic.

Governor Adeleke, often referred to as the “Dancing Senator” welcomed the endorsement, noting that the energy of the youth is essential for sustaining the administration’s developmental strides in infrastructure and education.

Local analysts suggest that Davido’s active involvement could be a decisive factor in the 2026 polls, mirroring his influential role in the 2022 election which saw the PDP (and now Accord Party-aligned) administration take office due to Davido’s massive youth following.
