HTSI inspects 25 Lagos general hospitals

The Hospital Transformation Support Initiative (HTSI) team of the Lagos State Health Service Commission has intensified its monitoring and assessment of public health facilities as part of efforts to enhance efficient, quality, and integrated healthcare services across the state.

The team, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Cecilia Abimbola Mabogunje, recently has visited over 25 General Hospitals in the ongoing exercise.

During the visits, the HTSI team was received by Medical Directors/Chief Executive Officers and their management teams, who conducted facility tours across various departments and wards identifying key operational challenges affecting service delivery, including staff shortages with a view to proffering practical solutions.

Dr. Mabogunje also interacted with patients and their relatives, exchanging pleasantries while reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services. She stressed the importance of staff welfare as a critical factor in boosting morale, fostering a positive mindset, and ensuring dedication to duty among healthcare workers.

In addition, the Permanent Secretary engaged House Officers and medical students undergoing practical training, assessing their learning experiences and encouraging continuous professional development.

The HTSI team further held high-level consultations with Medical Directors and hospital consultants, focusing on key issues such as operating standards, workflow efficiency, and capacity building to strengthen the overall healthcare system.

The monitoring and assessment exercise forms part of the Lagos State Government’s broader strategy to transform its health sector and deliver accessible, patient-centred services to residents.
