Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday in Maiduguri, Borno State, commissioned the newly built presidential lodge, Government House Clinic, and other facilities worth billions of naira within the Government House Complex.
Other facilities commissioned by the VP include the new Governor’s Office Complex, Protocol Office, and the Government House Juma’at Mosque, where he joined Governor Babagana Zulum for Juma’at prayers.
The Vice President commended the quality of work executed by Governor Zulum’s administration after a briefing by Acting Chief of Staff to the Governor, Engr. (Dr) Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe. He lauded the governor for his stewardship to the people of Borno.
Senator Shettima expressed satisfaction that his successor, Governor Zulum, “did not disappoint” in delivering good governance and the dividends of democracy, citing other meaningful projects across the state.

At the Government House Clinic, Chief Medical Director of the Borno State Hospital Management Board, Prof. Abubakar Ali Kullima, told the VP the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and will serve over 2,000 Government House staff and their families, reducing time lost seeking care at distant hospitals.
“A lot of productive time is wasted attending to staff health needs in facilities far from here,” Kullima said. He noted the clinic offers antenatal services, a delivery room, a theatre suite for surgical services, a one-stop laboratory, and diagnostic centres.
“This place is meant to attend to patients for 24 to 48 hours. We have arrangements with nearby facilities for cases requiring longer admission,” he added.
Dignitaries at the commissioning included Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa; Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu; members of the National and State Houses of Assembly, royal fathers, and other top government officials.
