The by-election for Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State commenced on Saturday with a strong voter turnout and tight security across the affected areas.
Security operatives, including personnel of the Nigerian Army, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), were deployed in large numbers to enforce movement restrictions and maintain order. Roadblocks were mounted on major routes in Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North, while police and NSCDC officers manned polling stations to ensure a peaceful process.
At polling units such as Wesley Primary School, Iperu (Unit 004, Ward 5), Wesley School, Ogere (Unit 002, Ward 7), and Iga Olusi, Sagamu (Unit 7, Ward 2), voters turned out in large numbers, with the exercise proceeding smoothly.
Reports from across the constituency indicated that the electoral process has so far been peaceful, with accreditation and voting ongoing in an orderly manner. The election is scheduled to close at 2:00 p.m.
