Health District IV retreat: Sanwo-Olu’s aide harps on empathy among medical workers

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Kemi Ogunyemi has charged all health workers, healthcare providers and medical practitioners to display a high level of empathy, kindness and respect in the discharge of their duties

Ogunyemi gave the advice at a two-day retreat organised by the Lagos State Health District IV for its Management Staff with the theme: “Fostering Collaboration for Effective Primary Healthcare Delivery” held recently at the Orchids Hotel, Lekki.

In his welcome address,  the Permanent Secretary of Health District IV, Dr. Abimbola Bolawale advised everyone to adopt a positive mindset, which can turn difficulty into opportunities and challenges into success stories.

On a similar note, the Permanent Secretary of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Princess Oyekan-lsmaila, went through the Ethics and Ethos of Lagos State Public Service, stressing the need for participants to adopt good etiquette and manners as they relate to patients and provide support and care.

Furthermore, Dr. Eniola Erinosho, a retired Director of Medical Services and Disease Control, spoke on the retreat theme, stressing the need for collaboration and cooperation among staff and the need to work together in unity as a team for efficiency and productivity.

Also speaking at the event, Mr. Samuel Okedara, Director Reforms, OTCI, gave an overview of the SPADEV Appraisal system for a better understanding of how to fill the SPADEV for easy upgrading and appraisal for members of staff.

The participants expressed their appreciation to the P.S, Dr. Abimbola Bowale for his selfless leadership, and for fostering a conducive work environment, where everyone feels valued, inspired and encouraged to do their best.
