The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has celebrated elder statesman, General Alani Akinrinade (rtd), on his 86th birthday, describing him as a patriot, military legend, and voice of integrity in Nigeria’s history.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the former Army chief’s life exemplifies service, sacrifice, and courage in defence of the nation.
He said: “On behalf of the government and people of Osun State, I heartily celebrate General Alani Akinrinade as he clocks 86.
“Your journey reflects the nobility of a true patriot, one who placed Nigeria above personal interest, safeguarded the nation in its darkest hours, and continues to inspire with courage, integrity, and sense of duty.”
The governor highlighted Akinrinade’s role not only in military service but also in democracy building, public advocacy, and grassroots development. He noted that the elder statesman’s contributions have left an enduring legacy of leadership and nation-building.
He added: “As you mark this milestone, I pray for continued good health, renewed strength, and divine grace. “Your wisdom remains a compass for generations and a guide for Nigeria’s leaders.”
