President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, at his Lagos residence.

The visit marked a significant step in strengthening Nigeria’s collaboration with the IMO and advancing the nation’s maritime and blue economy agenda.

Mr. Dominguez met with key stakeholders in Nigeria’s maritime sector during a strategic meeting chaired by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, CON. The session focused on enhancing maritime safety, trade facilitation, and the sustainable use of the nation’s vast marine resources.

President Tinubu received the IMO Secretary-General in the company of H.E. Oyetola; the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola; the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Femi Oloruntola; the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho; and the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji.

Nigeria continues to position itself as a leading maritime hub in Africa, with renewed focus on harnessing opportunities in the blue economy while deepening cooperation with international partners like the IMO.
