Gunmen kill Abuja Doctor, abduct his three children

Gunmen have killed an Abuja-based veterinary doctor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, and abducted his three children in a late night attack on his residence in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory.
Dr. Ogbu, a former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter, was reportedly taken from his home on Friday night along with his children. His lifeless body was later found dumped by the roadside, while the abductors remain in custody of the children.
A colleague, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, describing the late Ogbu as “a dedicated professional and family man.” He wrote:
“Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead. The children are yet to be released. May God intervene.”
Family members said the attack had left Ogbu’s wife and relatives devastated as search and rescue efforts continue.
Friends and professional associates also expressed shock over the killing, describing it as “a painful loss to the veterinary community and the nation.”
The incident occurred barely a week after the killing of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, during a robbery attack in Katampe, another Abuja district raising concerns over rising insecurity in the capital.
Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the latest attack. Efforts to reach the FCT Police Command for comment were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered.
