Prominent political leaders across Nigeria converged in Abuja on Monday to celebrate veteran journalist and TVC Director of News, Babajide Otitoju, as he marked his 60th birthday alongside the launch of his new book.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, as well as governors from Kwara, Lagos, Taraba, Kogi and Akwa Ibom States were among top dignitaries present at the event held at the NAF Conference Centre.

The gathering, which drew key stakeholders from both the political and media landscape, underscored Otitoju’s influence and longstanding contributions to journalism in Nigeria.

A major highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of his book titled “My Life and Journalist Hangout,” a work that reflects his professional journey and experiences in the media industry.

Speaking at the event, Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the occasion, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, who represented the 36 state governors, described Otitoju as a respected media professional whose impact on journalism remains significant.

He noted that Otitoju’s career stands as a model of dedication, credibility and professionalism, adding that his contributions have helped shape modern journalism practice in the country.

In a show of solidarity and recognition, Abdulrazak announced that the Nigeria Governors’ Forum purchased 36 copies of the book at a total cost of ₦200 million.

The event served as both a celebration of a milestone age and a recognition of a career that has spanned decades in Nigeria’s media industry.
