Former Oyo State Commissioner for Health and public sector reform advocate, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, has called for increased female representation in party leadership and governance.
He made the call following a strategic meeting with leaders of the Oyo State Women’s Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the party’s National Convention, focused on enhancing women’s involvement in party organisation, grassroots mobilisation, and leadership structures across Oyo State.
Participants described the engagement as constructive, outlining practical steps to improve internal coordination and expand leadership opportunities for women within the party.
Observers noted that the meeting reflects growing recognition of women as key stakeholders in party development and governance.
Dr. Gbadegesin commended the women leaders for their commitment to party growth and community engagement.
He emphasised that sustainable political progress in Oyo State depends on active participation of women at all levels of leadership and decision-making.
Attendees included Mrs. Felicia Opatunde, Oyo State APC Women Leader; Alhaja Fatima Hassan, Deputy Women Leader; Dr. Adepeju Esan; and Alhaja Ramota Okemakinde, both former members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, among other senior party leaders.
Stakeholders said the meeting forms part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening unity, improving internal cohesion, and positioning the party for future political developments in Oyo State.
