FRSC arrests 123 motorists in Kaduna over number plate violations

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, has arrested 123 motorists over number plate violations during its ongoing Operation Number Compliance.

The Sector Commander, CC Andrew  Longkam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna by the Command’s Staff Officer, Public Education, RC Usman Garba.

Longkam said the special enforcement operation, which commenced on May 12, was aimed at ensuring that all vehicles on Nigerian roads complied with statutory requirements on the use of valid vehicle registration number plates.

He said the operation was a continuous exercise designed to improve vehicle identification, strengthen security and enhance compliance with traffic regulations.

According to him, the command has recorded significant success since the commencement of the operation, with 123 offenders apprehended across various categories of vehicles, including private cars, commercial buses, tricycles and motorcycles.

Longkam said the exercise was not intended to punish motorists but to ensure compliance with existing traffic laws and improve road safety as well as national security.

He urged vehicle owners and operators to regularise their vehicle registration and ensure that only genuine and properly assigned number plates were displayed on their vehicles.

The sector commander warned that the operation would continue across Kaduna State.

He said defaulters would be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Longkam appealed to motorists to cooperate with FRSC personnel and comply with all traffic regulations to avoid sanctions.
