Newly elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, says the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) under his leadership will hold its inaugural meeting today, Tuesday, at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

This development comes as the Nyesom Wike-backed faction, led by Muhammed Abdulrahman, has also summoned an emergency NEC and Board of Trustees meeting for today at the same venue and time, raising fears of another showdown within the opposition party.

Turaki, who spoke to journalists on Monday shortly after submitting a petition to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Garki against the expelled National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu and others, said he and other newly elected officials would hold their first meeting following last Saturday’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The PDP national chairman insisted that nothing would stop his leadership from convening the meeting at the party’s national secretariat.

A notice earlier issued by the expelled National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, in Abuja on Monday stated that the Wike faction’s meeting would hold today at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
