FirstHoldCo Plc has announced the appointment of Gwen Mwaba, a seasoned banking executive and former Director for Trade Finance and Correspondent Banking at the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), as a Non-Executive Director on its board.

Bringing approximately three decades of extensive global banking experience, Mwaba’s appointment adds deep expertise in structured trade, commodity finance, and international corporate banking to the financial institution.

Her career also includes high-level executive positions at Stanbic Bank Zambia and Standard Bank South Africa.

Beyond her corporate banking career, Mwaba has contributed extensively to global financial policy and advisory groups, including serving on the World Trade Organisation-led Expert Group on Trade Finance and the Multilateral Institutions Board Advisory Panel of the International Trade & Forfaiting Association (ITFA).

She holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
