This was disclosed in a release issued by Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade said the payments will take effect from January 1, 2026.

The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, confirmed that the development reflected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises staff welfare, industrial harmony and uninterrupted academic calendars.

The agreements provide for the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for eligible ASUP and COEASU members, alongside the Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA) for eligible non-teaching personnel, subject to agreed provisions and implementation guidelines.

Alausa announced the expansion of the existing Implementation and Monitoring Committee to cover academic and non-academic unions, strengthening accountability and monitoring implementation.
