The FCT Police Command has arrested Onoja Samuel, a Deputy Superintendent of Corps with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), after he fired a pistol into the air at Kubwa Market on October 25, 2026.
Responding to a distress call at approximately 1:50 p.m., operatives from the Kubwa Division swiftly deployed to the scene and disarmed the suspect.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Samuel went to the market armed with a firearm following a report that traders had assaulted his wife, leading to a heated argument and subsequent gunfire.
Authorities recovered a CZ pistol and seventeen rounds of live 9mm ammunition during the operation, and the suspect remains in police custody pending formal charges upon the conclusion of the investigation.

In light of the incident, FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi has urged personnel from sister security agencies to exercise restraint and coordinate sanctioned operations with local police divisions to prevent avoidable clashes.
