The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has raised an alarm over an alleged plot by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to initiate the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

In a statement released on Sunday, Fayose claimed to have received reliable information that the state government intended to commence the dethronement process this week.

According to the allegation, the government plans to issue an official query to the monarch, citing his absence from the coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland which occurred two weeks ago, alongside other unspecified allegations.

Fayose alleged that the move is an attempt to target the Olubadan over recent disagreements regarding the traditional hierarchy and coronation processes in the ancient city.

He warned that he and other observers would be watching the Governor’s actions closely, using pointed traditional metaphors to describe the unfolding political drama.

As of the time of this report, the Oyo State Government has not issued an official response to these allegations.

The relationship between the Olubadan and the state executive has been a subject of public interest following recent reforms to the Ibadan Chieftaincy declaration, which Oba Ladoja has previously challenged.
