The Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has vehemently dissociated himself from a media report alleging the existence of a one-term agreement concerning the governorship of Kogi State.
In a statement issued personally to newsmen, the lawmaker, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency, described the report published by the online medium TrackNews as entirely false, misleading, and devoid of any factual basis.
The controversial report had alleged that the Presidency directed former Governor Yahaya Bello and the incumbent Governor, Usman Ododo, to honor a purported pact that would limit the current administration to a single term, claiming that Faleke was a key party to this arrangement.
Reacting to the claims, Faleke expressed shock at the fabrication, stating unequivocally that he was never part of any such discussion.
He emphasized that at no point in time did he enter into, nor was he privy to, any conversation or agreement regarding a one-term deal for the Kogi State leadership.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I state unequivocally that I never had any discussion, nor was I privy to any conversation, arrangement, or agreement regarding a one-term deal in Kogi State or any related matter,” Faleke declared.
“At no point in time was I a party to such an agreement, whether directly or indirectly.”
The lawmaker noted that following the publication, he had been inundated with calls and messages from concerned associates seeking clarification.
He urged the public to disregard the story in its entirety, maintaining that the narrative was a mere fabrication.
Faleke, a ranking member of the House of Representatives, remains a significant figure in national politics, currently serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance.
