A former Secretary to the Osun State Government and loyalist of former Interior Minister Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, has formally withdrawn from the Omoluabi Progressives, the political group he co-founded and served as Deputy Leader.

Adeoti announced his exit in a letter dated 30 November 2025, which circulated widely on Saturday and was addressed to the group’s chairman in Osogbo.

The influential politician, who is believed to be eyeing the 2026 governorship ticket under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the decision did not come lightly.

He wrote: “I, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti… hereby tender this letter of withdrawal from the group which I co-founded with other progressive-minded individuals across the state. This also includes my complete withdrawal from all the group’s activities henceforth.”

According to him, the step became necessary after deep personal reflection and persistent appeals from family members urging him to take “a short rest from all political activities.”

Adeoti noted that leaving the group was difficult, especially considering his financial and moral investment in sustaining the organisation through its “turbulent period” since inception.

He expressed gratitude to members for the trust they placed in him and wished the current leadership success.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, dismissed reports of Salaam’s emergence as “false and misleading,” insisting no candidate had been chosen ahead of the official primary.

Abdullahi said in a statement,“ADC does not hand-pick candidates, and no individual has been selected ahead of the primary process.”

He stressed that any claims to the contrary stemmed from “unverified posts and publications, not from any legitimate ADC communication.”

He assured party members and the public that the ADC would conduct a transparent primary and urged Nigerians to disregard the viral reports.

“Until the authorised organs of the party conduct the primaries, no candidacy is valid or recognised,” he added.
