Emir of Ilorin calls for prayers as AbdulRazaq is turbaned as Sardauna

Arrangements have been concluded for the turbanning of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as the Sardauna of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

This was made known in a statement issued in Ilorin by the spokesperson for the Emir, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, who said the ceremony is scheduled to hold at the Emir’s Palace on September 16.

According to Arowona, the event is expected to be attended by dignitaries, including government officials, captains of industry, and traditional rulers from both within and outside the state, making it a rallying point for the people of the emirate.

He added that the title was conferred on Governor AbdulRazaq in recognition of his outstanding leadership, commitment to peace and unity, and the remarkable developmental strides recorded across the state under his administration.

The Emir has also directed that the occasion be used to offer special prayers for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in the Ilorin Emirate, the state, and Nigeria at large.

“Members of the public, government functionaries, traditional title holders, and religious leaders are enjoined to ensure that this historic ceremony is used to promote the rich cultural heritage of the emirate,” the statement added.

It will be recalled that the former occupant of the title, the late Ilorin business mogul Alhaji Umaru Saro, passed away five years ago before he could be formally turbaned.
