Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of the Justice Saidu Kawu Court House, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work done so far.
Accompanied by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, the Governor stated that the multi-story project stems from his belief that the judiciary, like other arms of government, deserves to operate in a highly decent environment.
“The work is going on very well. This is the main building of the Court House. We are trying to give the judiciary a better working environment,” the Governor told reporters in Ilorin on the sidelines of the visit.
“We have seen what His Excellency Nyesom Wike has done for the judiciary, and we are trying to deliver another great edifice and architectural masterpiece that offers a highly conducive environment for the judiciary. All we are doing is making sure the standards are improved. Judges shouldn’t be performing their duties in substandard offices and infrastructure. We are setting a standard that can be emulated in other parts of the country,” he added.
Earlier, the Chief Judge, Justice Adebara, commended the Governor for his consistent sensitivity toward the welfare of the judiciary in the state.
“I am highly impressed and elated by what I have seen this afternoon. On behalf of the judiciary of Kwara State, I want to appreciate His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the wonderful job he is doing for the judiciary.”
“Beyond this project, he is doing so many other things for the judiciary. With regard to this building, it will significantly ease our operations. Our courts are currently scattered all over Ilorin, but when this project is finally completed, we will have a compact headquarters in the state capital. Other courts will then be able to accommodate more judges, and the administration of justice will progress smoothly across the state,” he said.
