The Chairman of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group, Tony Elumelu has declared that Nigeria’s long-term growth will depend on entrepreneurs who are bold enough to innovate, scale, and build enduring institutions stating that nation-building “starts with those who dare.”

Speaking at the National MSME Grow Nigeria Conference 2.0, the Heirs Holdings Group Chairman reinforced his philosophy of Africapitalism, which places responsibility for national development not only on government but also on the private sector.

He said businesses must drive progress by “building Africa, building Nigeria, doing well and doing good at the same time.”

Elumelu also delivered a critical message on Nigeria’s energy crisis, warning that the country cannot compete globally without reliable power.

He explained that inadequate electricity continues to suppress productivity, limit digital growth, and weaken the operating environment for small businesses.

He emphasised that Heirs Energies is intensifying efforts to expand access to dependable electricity, strengthen the gas-to-power ecosystem, and support the enterprises that fuel economic transformation.
